I acquired my first JAF sight-unheard in a trade with someone looking to part with theirs.  From the day it arrived, it's been my main bass, and quickly became my favorite.  There's simply nothing else like it.  Fit and finish are far beyond anything else I've ever played, and it's just a gorgeous instrument.  I've been playing in bands for about 5 years now, and I've played all kinds of instruments, from the bottom of the barrel to the top of the production bass heap.  But nothing I've ever played can hold a candle to my JAF.  I can't count the number of times I've been approached after a gig by fellow bassists asking “What the hell is that bass?  I love it!”  My current band, Ending the Silence, is about to release our first CD, and we're currently playing shows all over the Kansas City area.  If you're in town and want to hear some hard rockin' music, come and check us out.

I'm enough of a fan that when Mike offered up #021 for sale, I simply said, “I'll take it.”  We didn't discuss price, it was just a “gotta-have-it” thing with me.  The instruments these guys have created, and that Al continues to create, are absolute works of art.
